Mithron grinned after the kiss, finally letting go of Orelinde. He slid her from his lap, and then stood up, reaching down to offer his hand to her. "We'll have to do that again sometime," he told her, the grin still planted on his face. Then he went around to start picking up their sacks that were scattered about, and put out the fire that was still slightly burning from when it was lit for supper.

Then Mithron started to pack the horses. They seemed rather anxious to be leaving again. They had had nearly a day of rest now since they had stopped that morning.

Órelindë stood taking Mithron’s hand, she felt better on her feet now than she had when they first arrived. The poison seemed to have run its course through her body, what little was able to affect her after administered his elixir. “We must,” she said softly, smiling at him. Mithron began to pick up their sacks and Órelindë picked up her satchel and walked over to Ránëwén who nuzzled her neck affectionately, she was glad to see her better. “I am well mellon nín,” she cooed to her horse as she stroked her face.

She placed her satchel securely on Ránëwén back. Mithron was packing the other bags as Órelindë spoke to the horses in her elven tongue, they were anxious to be going, it was not the way of either to be still so long. “They are ready to be going,” she told Mithron. “Ránëwén especially, she does not like to be long in one place,” she divulged.

"I suppose we should not stay long one place anyway, not in the dark. Those wolves and orcs could very well track us down here if we don't start moving again," Mithron informed Orelinde. That was the last thing that he wanted to have happen. So it was good that they would start moving again. Mithron gathered up everything and packed it back onto the horses, remembering to walk over to the edge of their little encampment and pick up the torn and dirty clothes that they had worn the day before, and toss them into one of the packs. They hardly looked salvagable, but perhaps Orelinde would want to try. Then Mithron went over and carefully finished smothering the fire with fresh dirt, so that it ended up looking like the place had never been touched. He washed his hands in the r-iver and then went back over to Orelinde. "Are you about ready, love?" he asked her.

Órelindë looked at Mithron as he spoke to her. He knew more about these things than she did, but she did know that staying long in the dark, especially after the attack was unwise. The sun that held the orcs at bay was gone now and they could roam where they pleased. She did not want to relive that again, at least not so soon if she could help it.

Mithron retrieved her soiled and bloodied clothes from the day before and bundled them into a sack. Órelindë doubted she would ever wear that garment again, in fact it was best that it was disposed of all together should her father ever come across it and wonder what had happened. Camthalion was not to know that his daughter had been hurt in an attack on this trip. He must not know. She watched him as he put out the fire, he was meticulous in everything, making sure to cover any signs that they had been there.

“I am,” she said softly as Mithron asked her if she was ready to leave. She placed her hand on Ránëwén’s back, the other holding onto her neck as she pulled herself up on to her back.

Mithron watched Orelinde carefully as she went to climb on Ranewen's back, making sure that she did not stumble anymore, or look the least bit dizzy. She passed his examination, and satisfied at her wellness, he pulled himself up on to Amras's back.

"Right then, from here on out we just follow the river mostly the rest of the way. It should be a safe trip as long as we keep moving during the night, at least until we get further from the forest and the mountains. We may take our time though during the day. With all that galloping the past couple of days, we are a bit ahead of schedule," he smiled. At least that was one good way of looking at their attacks.

Órelindë looked down at Mithron with a smile as she was settled on Ránëwén’s assuring him that she was alright. He was on Amras’ back soon after, a handsome sight on horse back even in the dark. Her elf ears listened to the sounds around them, trying to hear anything out of place, but she heard nothing suspicious.

Órelindë smiled. A head of schedule meant they would get to Lothlorien sooner and would be able to stay longer. Their attack had some benefit after all. She spoke softly to Ránëwén and she began to move along the river’s path. “Mithron, do you think we will come across more orcs?” she asked. Her sword was still strapped to Ránëwén’s back. She had no desire to see the filthy yrck again. The only sight that she wished to see, other than Mithron, was the mallorn of Lothlorien, a sight she had waited long years to see.

Mithron certainly hoped that they would not see any more orcs. It was not a far distance between the riv-er and the forest on this side, and between the mountains on the other side. It was quite possible that they would see more, though the orcs would not be so well off out here in the open as they were in the forest. He did not want to worry Orelinde though. She could enjoy her ride, and he would keep watch for the dangerous things. That was one of the reason's he was here, he wanted her to enjoy this trip, and not have to worry. "No, love, I think we will be fine from here on out," he answered her. As much as there was a possibility of coming across more orcs, there was that same possibility that they would not.

She looked at Mithron expectantly; she needed to know if he expected more orcs on their journey. The thought troubled her but it was something she would have to deal with if they did come across them again. Her first meeting with orcs had gone in her favour and she would have been able to say she had faced orcs unscathed if it had not been for that one arrow. She would be more wary next time…if there was a next time.

She gave a pleased smile as he assured her that they were fine from then on, that he did not expect to see more orcs on their trip. “Very well, then we can take the rest of this trip an easy pace,” she said. She patted the side of Ránëwén neck and the horse nodded her head as if agreeing that an easy pace was best. An easy pace was not much to the liking of Amras, as a rather young stallion he preferred to be more active and go faster.

Órelindë could hear the water as it flowed over the rocks in the riverbed as they continued on. She could not help but think of what had occurred only moments before. She had made a huge promise, and she intended to keep it.

As Mithron rode, he was sitting lightly on Amras's back, one hand in front of him on the horses reins, and the other resting on his hip. He looked down at the hand that was gripping the rein to see the band that Orelinde had placed there again. He switched hands, lifting that one up to look at it closer. It meant so much to him, even if it was just a bit of hair and string. Every few moments, he would glance over at Orelinde, just to see her, and remember what had actually happened. He was not just dreaming. He loved the wonderful, kind, intelligent, beautiful lady, and she actually loved him back. Why she would love an elf like him, he did not know, but that did not matter anymore, because she did!

What was even better, was that she loved him enough to want to be with him forever. She was his now, and he was hers. Someday she would be his wife, and they could live together, and have a family. Mithron wondered how long it would be, would her adar make them wait longer? They had not known each other long, but how long does it take to fall in love with someone? For Mithron it had been a matter of a few short meetings. And now, oh, he just wanted to gather her into his arms and kiss her forever.

Mithron thought about these things for a very long time as the horses walked on and he kept watch for anything out of place. Finally he decided to say something. "My love..." he started. That was really all he had thought of saying though. He just wanted to say it to remind her that he loved her.

Órelindë’s hands barely grasped the reins as they rode, so firm was her faith and security in where she sat. Ránëwén would never let her fall, it was not in the horse’s nature, nor was it in Amras’. Both of them had been trained well would bare their rider to their destination with only death preventing them from doing so. The night air was cool against her fair skin, and the sliver of moon cast light shadows on her hair and face, giving everything a slightly bluish colour. She could sense Mithron looking at her, and she looked back at him, a smile on her face. He was wonderful, the most wonderful elf she had ever met; kind, gentle, loving, handsome with the purest heart. How she loved him, even with the brief time that they had known each other, but true love does not have a specific time frame that it works in. Love moves of its own accord, touching whom it pleased…and it had chosen to touch both of them.

She looked at his face in the moonlight, studying its perfection, for he was perfect in her eyes. There was no flaw to him, from his raven hair to the boots on his feet, he was entirely without blemish. Her mother would have loved him; his demeanour would have pleased her, even his shyness. Her mind went back to the vision she had earlier, and she wondered what more there was to it. Would she ever see the elf’s face or did she already know it? She wanted to think that she did, that Mithron was the elf of her dreams.

Adar will not disapprove. He will be happy that I have found someone to love and who loves me back, she thought as they continued their journey. Would he ask them to wait? Would he want a long engagement perhaps? How would he handle letting her go when the time came? All these questions ran through her mind, but she also wondered when Mithron would ask her father to marry her. Would he ask right away or wait a few days before meeting with him? Only time would tell she supposed but it was good to know that she was so loved that he would want forever with her.

She had looked back at the trail for a moment but turned to look at Mithron when he spoke to her. “Yes My Mithron,” she said sweetly. She loved to say his name and to know he was hers.

Mithron smiled, looking happily, quiet again for a long time. He was so happy that a song was in his head, and he debated on singing it, but then decided that it would probably distract him from his watch, especially if Orelinde sung with him. Her voice was so beautiful and sweet. Some more time passed, and the moon was higher in the sky now. Night had fully settled in.

A wolf howled in the distance. The night animals and insects grew quiet for a moment, but then started up soon after. Mithron glanced around, turning rigid in his seat, but was soon assured that it was not near. "Don't worry, love, it's in the forest," he told Orelinde, though he still looked wary. Sure enough, the wolf howled again, but this time it sounded further away, and Mithron relaxed a bit. If there were to be wolves nearby, he would know before they got here. "I'd say we cross the rive-r but the mountains are over there, and I am more familiar with the forest creatures than the mountain ones," he told her.

They rode on in silence, the moon was now high in the sky and the surrounding area was easily visible in its light. The ground was not entirely level there, it dipped and rose gently from time to time and in the distance the mountains loomed their dominance over all else. Her heart beat gently in her chest, she was not worried at the moment but looking interested at the area surrounding her. She looked over at Mithron, his face was still as his eyes looked around as well, but his interests were not in the area it self, but looking out for danger. To Órelindë all this was new, her father never allowed her to leave the comforts of their home in Mirkwood.

The howl of a wolf froze her heart, her eyes pricked and she turned her head in the direction it came from. She could tell where it came from but not how far away it was, in the woods it would be easier for her to gauge but out in the open she was not sure. Mithron assured her that there was no danger; that the wolf was in the forest. She looked at him and nodded her head silently. There came another howl but this time it was fainter than the last and Órelindë could tell that it was further away than before and her heart calmed.

“Let us stay where we are, you do not know the mountain creatures and I know neither the plain nor mountains. We are safer where one if us has some knowledge of what to expect,” she said calmly.

The hours of the night passed by, and when morning came the two elves rested. The week went by quickly, and they drew nearer and nearer to their destination, the Golden Wood. They crossed over the Anduin, and in the distance, over the plains, a forest was visible. From here, it did not look like anything spectacular, but Mithron knew that once one was inside the forest, things were different. When it came in sight, Mithron stopped his horse, and called to Orelinde, who was not far to the side of them.
"There it is, love," he said, smiling. They had finally made it to where they were going, and he had gotten her here without any major consequences.

The week passed quickly and Órelindë marvelled at the many new things she saw on their journey. The Anduin was especially lovely to look upon and that water’s cooling and calming affects washed over her as they passed.

They continued on for some time until finally they came to it…the Golden Wood. She rode slightly behind Mithron, Ránëwén was somewhat tired from their journey and Órelindë had allowed her to slow her pace. When she heard Mithron she spoke to Ranewen in soft, barely audible words and the horse moved forward, catching up to him.

She smiled as he told her that they were there, they had finally reached the Golden Wood. “We are here,” she said softly looking at the woods that hide the beauty of Lothlorien, the place where she would spend some two weeks. “We made it Mithron,” she said with a smile, “we made it.” She was delighted, long had she waited to see the home of Celeborn and Galadriel and now she was there.
